The following problems may occur when you are running your power inverter, so it’s better to be prepared and know what to look for when it happens.

First Problem: You bought a power inverter and hooked it up to the battery. Eventually, you notice that the battery run time is less than expected. Here are some possible causes and suggested remedies for this problem.

CAUSE: The AC product power consumption is higher than rated.

REMEDY: Use a larger battery to make up for increased power requirement.

CAUSE: The battery is old or defective.

REMEDY: Replace the battery.

CAUSE: Battery is not being properly charged.

REMEDY: Many simple chargers are unable to charge a battery fully. Replace your charger with a better model.

CAUSE: Power dissipation in the DC cables.

REMEDY: Use shorter/heavier DC cables.

Second Problem: This time, after you hook up the power inverter to the battery, the AC product will not operate and/or the red FAULT light comes on. Here are some possible causes and suggested remedies for this problem.

CAUSE: AC product(s) connected are rated at more than the rated continuous output power and overload shutdown has occurred.

REMEDY: Use a product with a power rating less than the rated continuous output power of your inverter, or get an inverter with more output power.

CAUSE: AC product is rated less than the rated continuous output power, but the high starting surge has caused overload shutdown.

REMEDY: Your product exceeds the inverter’s surge capability. Use a product that has starting surge power within the inverter’s capability.

CAUSE: Your battery is discharged (alarm is sounding).

REMEDY: Recharge the battery or use another battery that is fully charged.

CAUSE: The inverter has overheated due to poor ventilation and this has caused over temperature shutdown.

REMEDY: Switch the inverter OFF and allow it to cool for 15 minutes. Cleared a blocked fan or remove objects covering unit. Move the unit to a cooler environment. Reduce the load if continuous operation is required and RESTART the inverter.

CAUSE: The input voltage is greater than 17.0V.

REMEDY: Verify that the charging system is properly regulated and the battery is 12V DC nominal.

I hope these problems never happen to you, but if they should, you will know what to look for and hopefully, be able to solve them. You can find more tips, information and suggestions at my website, Energy Igloo.

Like many others, Energy Igloo has joined the fight to help save our planet. They have recently added some products that use only solar power.

You can now find a portable, solar powered inverter and battery pack available from Xantrex. The XPower Powerpack Solar is the first portable power pack that incorporates solar power in a compact, portable power source. It’s completely self-renewing, which means the detachable 5-watt solar panel has the ability to recharge the power pack’s 10 amp-hour battery.

The 5-watt solar panel captures, stores and converts the sun’s renewable energy, replenishes the XPower Powerpack Solar’s battery, and extends the runtime of many devices by up to 25 percent.

Now available from Go Power! are solar charging kits for RV’s. They keep your batteries charged and healthy. Full Batteries give you the freedom to run lights, furnaces, fans and more DC appliances without the worry of running out of power. Watch TV, DVDs, play video games with healthy batteries you don’t have to give up the comforts you are used to wherever you choose to stay. The rugged durability of their solar panels guarantee you’ll generate solar power everywhere you go. All components you need to set up your solar charging system are included in every Go Power! Solar Charging Kit.

Energy Igloo has also added other new products that allow you to take the power with you, wherever you go. We all need electricity to run our ever expanding inventory of electronic gadgets and a power inverter is the way to have that electricity when it’s needed.

Have you ever been somewhere that didn't have electricity readily available and you wanted or needed it? This doesn't have to be the situation any longer. Portable electricity is now available for every person and every circumstance.

Have you ever been somewhere that didn’t have electricity readily available and you wanted or needed it?

You could be on a trip and the batteries for your digital camera go dead. You don’t have electricity available to recharge them, so you can’t take any more pictures. Think of all the nice pictures you lost because of dead batteries. The same goes for cell phones, iPods, MP3 players and hand held video games. Once the batteries die, you can no longer use them either.

What about working on a project outdoors with power tools? The cords for those tools aren’t very long and although you may have an extension cord, it won’t help because you have no place to plug it in. How can you use your power tools without electricity?

Have you ever gone camping and wished you had electricity in your tent to watch a portable TV or listen to a radio? What about spending time in your RV or boat and you want to use the microwave oven or watch TV without running down the vehicle’s battery? We can all identify with at least one of these situations.

This is where a power inverter becomes invaluable. With the smaller sized inverters, that plug into the cigarette lighter in your vehicle, you can have all the electricity you need for all of your battery run devices. To work outdoors, you can use a larger power inverter and either a spare 12 volt battery or the battery in your vehicle. Whether you are traveling on vacation, working outdoors, or just taking it easy at the beach, eventually you will need electricity for something to work.

Energy Igloo has everything you need to get the portable electricity you require for your situation. There are four different brands of power inverters in all sizes and they come in both modified sine wave and pure sine wave models. We also have 12 volt batteries, battery chargers (to keep your battery charged and ready for the next use), and many different sizes and lengths of cables.

Now, everyone can have the electricity they need and it won’t matter if there’s a power outlet available. You can take your electricity with you, where ever you go. Power inverters provide portable electricity, which can make everyone’s life a little better.

Energy Igloo has added a new category on it’s home page for Cables. There are many different lengths and weights of power inverter cables. There is also a new item on the AIMS Power Inverter page. It’s a 3-Way Automatic Transfer Switch from AIMS Power. These items give the user more flexibility in how they can use their power inverters.

The 3-Way Automatic Transfer Switch provides for seamless, immediate transfer of electrical power between an AC outlet and a backup generator. But, the Transfer Switch takes it one step further with its digital operated software that also synchronizes power with a 110/120 volt AC inverter. The result? Continuous power, every minute of every day.

If your shore/city electrical supply is interrupted, this device will automatically transfer power requirements to a generator and if that power source is down, it will then transfer all power needs to a 12 volt battery. All power sources and needs are continually synchronized to ensure safe operation. Plus, you’ll be sure to appreciate the unit’s digital design which requires low power consumption for operation.

Cables range in size from 1 foot to 20 feet. They come in 3 different weights: 4 Awg, 1/0 Awt and 4/0 Awt. There is also a cable with a cigarette lighter plug, for power inverters of 180 watts or less, to be used in your vehicle.

Energy Igloo has whatever you need to make power outages less bothersome and to make electricity available wherever and whenever you need it.

As everyone knows, this has become a very busy hurricane season for the areas that normally get hit by them. First, there was hurricane Gustav that charged into the gulf. Then tropical storm Hannah, which is now hammering the east coast. Next to come is hurricane Ike, which is on the move towards the U.S. as well.

Every area that has been hit by these recent storms are suffering power outages. The people who have power inverters are able to continue using electricity, but the many who don’t have a power inverter are suffering needlessly. Being without power is not fun and certainly not productive. Energy Igloo has a variety of brands and sizes to fit everyone’s needs. There are pure sine wave and moderate sine wave power inverters from AIMS, Go Power, Vector and Xantrex. They also have 12 volt batteries and battery chargers to keep the batteries ready for each new incident.

Please be prepared for your next storm and get yourself a power inverter. It will definitely make the inconvenience of having a power outage easier and more pleasant for all.

This is very exciting news!

Until a few weeks ago, Energy Igloo only had one brand of power inverters to sell. Now, they have four brands and lots of sizes, styles and wattages to offer. Everyone should be able to find the exact power inverter they need for their free electricity.

The first new brand is Go Power! and there are both modified sine wave and pure sine wave inverters ranging from 3000 watts down to 150 watts.

Go Power! power inverter

The second new brand is Vector and they have many modified sine wave inverters to choose from ranging from 3000 watts to 100 watts.

Vector power inverter

The third new brand is Xantrex and here we have mostly modified sine wave inverters, plus a couple of pure sine wave inverters. These range from 3000 watts to 75 watts.

Ever thought about giving free electricity as a gift? What do you get the person who seems to have everything? We all face this problem from time to time and I’ve found the perfect solution.

Being without electricity during a power outage is frustrating. You feel like you should be doing something productive, but instead you’re impatiently waiting for the power to come back on and you’re accomplishing nothing. Wouldn’t it be great if you could change this from a negative occurrence to a positive one? What about doing the same thing for someone else?

This is a real possibility, if you have the necessary items. A friend gave me a power inverter, battery and battery charger as a present and it’s been the best gift I ever received. Every time we have a power outage, I use my power inverter and battery to generate free electricity and I remember the person who gave it to me. It was really a thoughtful gift and one that I use over and over again.

There are many holidays throughout the year. Then, we have birthdays and even anniversaries and we are always trying to find the right gift to give someone. If you are having trouble finding the right gift, then give them the gift of free electricity to use during a power outage. It’s the type of gift that keeps on giving with every use.

You can find everything you need at Energy Igloo. We carry a variety of items and I’m sure you’ll find just what you need. Give someone a gift that they will appreciate and that will remind them of how thoughtful you were with each use.

As long as the electricity is available, no one thinks much about it. The importance is realized when the power goes out. Whether it’s during the day or at night, electricity keeps our lives in order. It affects our business, our schedule and even our entertainment.

Electricity runs everything in our everyday life. Think about it and you’ll see how much we depend on electricity to keep everything functioning. Gas stations can’t pump gas without it. Businesses have to close because their cash registers won’t work without it, or their computers won’t function. Banks and teller machines can’t function and must close. Restaurants, even fast food restaurants, can’t cook food without it. Our lives almost come to a standstill without electricity.

These are the times when back up electricity is most needed and becomes very important, especially at home. It keeps our lives in order and insures that everything goes on as normal as possible. It’s important to keep our daily schedule and backup electricity can do just that. Without it, our lives are chaos and our day can be ruined or a total loss.

All aspects of our world today depends on having electricity. In our homes, everything we need and enjoy is plugged into a wall socket and requires electricity. Therefore, backup electricity has become a necessity and is no longer a luxury. This is now true for businesses, hospitals and homes.

Now you can get everything you need to have that backup power in one place at energyigloo.com.
